Wow, I can't believe we made it through this year... I honestly thought that we would go for a few weeks and then shut down and have to go digital. It wasn't perfect, but I feel like decision-makers in our county made decisions that appealed to as many people as possible. Kids could choose to learn digitally, from home, or go in person. School started on August 3rd and continued straight, except for 2 weeks of digital learning after Christmas holidays (for precaution).
My kids didn't hesitate- they wanted to go in person. They need that socialization and don't learn as well in front of a computer. Overall, the kids had a really great year. Taylor had to quarantine twice, for a week each time, due to sitting within 6 feet of someone who had Covid. Sydney had to quarantine once for one week due to exposure. (This surprised me- I thought she'd have to quarantine a lot more being at middle school!) Parker never had to quarantine! I would call all of this a huge success, considering what all was going on in the world.
