It's hard to believe that summer is over! The kids started back on August 2nd. Sydney is in 7th grade, Taylor is in 5th grade, and Parker is in 3rd grade! Time... slow down... please!

Yep, I went back to teaching this year! This whole thing has been something that randomly fell in my lap. I signed up to sub last fall because there was a big need for subs due to the pandemic. I was terrified to sub so I didn't do it until November. Then, I subbed maybe a couple of times a month.
In late February, I subbed for a special ed teacher at Sydney's middle school. During that day, I was called to the front office by the principal. (insert freakout moment- what did I do??) They found out that I was certified both math and special ed, and a special ed math teacher was going on maternity leave for the last 4 weeks of school. They asked if I'd be her long-term sub. I thought... I can do that! It's only 4 weeks, right?
The first week of March, a lady from the school called me and informed me that the teacher was going on bedrest (she was expecting twins in May) and she asked if I could start earlier. (insert freakout moment #2!!) So, I went for it... and I ended up working the entire last quarter at the school!
It went well, it was fun being back into a routine... I mean, I was exhausted and learning a new place always has its challenges... but being a sub takes a little pressure off.
Long story short, in April, the principal talked to me about working there in the fall... I talked about it with Stephen, and decided to go for it! As much as I have thoroughly enjoyed staying home, I think my brain needs for me to be doing something regularly, outside of the house.
I didn't take any back to school pics, but I did want to share what some of my friends did/said! It was a good day.
