Taylor Feeder Team (B-Ball)

The second team Taylor is playing on this year is the "feeder" team for her high school. This is done by grade, so she is on the 6th grade team. If we had known what it would be like, we probably wouldn't have done it. There's not much competition at the 6th grade level, and none of the games have been close. It's fun to win, but I don't feel like Taylor and a handful of her teammates are improving from being on this team, simply because you don't have to really try! It's a lot of time for not a lot of reward. The best part about it is just the socializing part for Taylor- she gets to hang with her friends!

They have played in 3 tournaments and won, which is cool. This last tournament, Taylor's coach (who is also her travel coach) put together a 6th, 7th, and 8th grade team to play against 8th graders. We won some games but lost in bracket play... but, I'll tell you, it was much more fun to watch us lose to a good team than to kill a bad team.

This will give you an idea of what our games are like... this is 2 minutes before half time! We have about 6 girls on the team that can play, and 8 that really haven't played much/ever. Our coach trades the girls out regularly (and T doesn't get to play too much) and it will STILL be like this. It's insane.

Taylor- School Basketball

Like I said in a previous post, we are eating, sleeping, and breathing basketball. Taylor plays for 2.5 teams (her normal travel team is "off" for the winter but still holds random practices), and she literally practices or plays 7 days a week- sometimes twice a day! It's insanity, but thankfully Taylor loves it and wants to do it all.

The main team she plays for is her middle school team. This was one where they had about 55 girls try out, and 7th/8th graders could make the A team, while 6th/7th graders could make the B team. It's not super common for many 6th graders to make the B team, but Taylor made it! She plays games typically twice a week at middle schools all around our county.

Right now, we're about halfway through the season. She has loved being a part of this team. She's made so many new friends! I'll have to brag a bit on Taylor. She is rocking it out! She starts, she has been the leading scorer for most, if not all, games. She has stepped up and not backed down when under pressure. She has hit some shots in close games that have sealed the games, which is awesome for her. She has definitely grown in this area!

They have big sisters (on the A team) who get them goodies throughout the season. This was a sign Taylor's made for her!

Three out of the 6 middle school teams are really not good, unfortunately. For those games, the coach lets the non-starters play most of the games. This is how Taylor felt about that! ;)

The girls have gotten to do a lot of fun hang outs. Usually parents aren't at them, but I was there for dinner one night!

NYE

New Year's Eve was fun! Both Sydney and Taylor had a friend over, and Parker spent the night at his friend, Kellen's house, up the street.

The girls had so much fun, and 3 of them stayed up until after 6 AM. Taylor had played 2 bball games on the 31st and just couldn't hang! Based on the laughs and funny TikTok videos I saw the next day, it's safe to say they had a good time.

PLUS- UGA beat Ohio State right when midnight hit, so that was a fun way to start the year!
