Canada- Days 3 & 4 (Quebec City & Montreal)

Friday was SURPRISE day!! The girls and I got to Quebec City and had some time to walk around and eat breakfast before everyone got off the ship. Did you know that Quebec City is the only walled city in North America besides Mexico City? It also felt like we were in France. Everything looked European! It was very cool.

Back to the surprise. Our plan was for my mom and my sister's fam to take a picture, and we would sneak up behind them. We weren't quite sure where to meet up, so we decided to just text each other and see if we can find a spot that worked on the go. We found them on the street, and had to hide in a corner so my mom wouldn't see us!

My mom was completely shocked!!!! I'm so happy we were able to keep this a secret all these months :)

We then got to check out Quebec City! It is an adorable city with so much to see.

Later that afternoon, they all got back on the boat, and the girls and I drove back to Montreal. This time, it was almost 4 hours (!!) due to hitting traffic in three cities on the way. But, we thankfully made it back and I literally crawled in bed and crashed hard. :)

Saturday morning was our last day in Canada, and we spent it in Montreal. We had three days of gorgeous weather, but Saturday was miserable. It was rainy and cold! We all kind of split up doing different things, with most of us hanging at this big mall in the city. Later that afternoon, we headed to the airport and made it back to the ATL.

We knew we had to check out Tim Horton's while here. I think this is the Canadian version of Waffle House, minus the waffles! They're everywhere!

Canada- Day 2 (Montmorency Falls)

Thursday morning, we woke up and rented a car at the airport. Then, we headed towards Quebec! It was supposed to be a 2.5 hour drive from Montreal, but we hit some traffic and made a couple of tops along the way, so it took a little over 3 hours.

A few things to note. Of course, everything is in kilometers, so it's funny seeing my speedometer and speed limit signs say "100". Also, all the road signs were in French. Most of it I could figure out what it meant, but some of the more unique signs threw me for a loop. We stopped at a little diner place for lunch (all French) and went to Walmart to get some bottled water (everything was in French). And when I say it's in French, I mean- there is no English. In Montreal, probably over half the signs would have French first and bigger, but then English underneath. The closer we got to Quebec, the less English we saw!

We headed to Montmorency Falls, a large waterfall about 15 minutes north of Quebec City. It was beautiful, and Sydney got to zipline across the falls!

Canada- Day 1 (Montreal)

The girls and I headed to Canada for a few days in June! My sister, her family, and my mom were taking a cruise for her early 80th birthday. We didn't want to miss out on the birthday fun, so we had an idea to go to Canada and surprise her on one of their stops! (Spoiler alert: it was a success) Their last two days of the cruise had stops at Quebec City and then Montreal, so our plan was to meet them in both of those places.

After a 4:45 AM wake up call on Wednesday, we made sure our Life 360 locations were turned "off" (so my mom wouldn't see), and we headed to the airport. We arrived in Montreal around 11:15 AM. We got a few Canadian dollars, checked into the hotel, and then took the bus into the city! We walked around, shopped, got ice cream, rode the subway, went to the Notre Dame Basilica's light show, ate dinner, and then headed back to the hotel later that evening. We were tired!
