Taylor- Feeder Basketball

Taylor wrapped up her 8th grade feeder season (the weekend team, not the weekday school team... not confusing at all).  They play a lot more games against 5 different counties, so it's fun to see them play a variety of teams.

They had a great season, playing in 3 tournaments and winning 2, and coming up as runner's up in the third.  I also tried to play photographer for her team, and here are some of the pics I got!

This was the minute when Taylor sprained her right Tommy John ligament (elbow area).  Did this in the championship game.  Girlfriend was out for over a month from playing basketball.  Such a bummer.

Taylor- Middle School Championship Game

Taylor's team made it to the county championship game!  They were runner's up their 6th grade year, after going undefeated all season.  They won it their 7th grade year, after losing a few games in the regular season.  This season, they only lost one game (to a team they never should've lost to, but it was one of the games were Taylor was out.  Not saying she was the reason why we didn't win, but we only lost by 3 and I think she would have made up for that).  Anyways!  The team we faced in the championship was a team we had already beat twice.  GRANTED, we had beat them twice in 6th grade and they beat us in the championship.  Besides school ball, we faced them in feeder a few times, and we went 5-1 against them.  However, the games were ALWAYS close, so we knew the girls had to bring their best game.

Welp... they lost. :(  By 2.  This other team has a beast of a player who scored literally 80% of their points, and we didn't do the right defense to stop her.  It's frustrating, because the girls listened to the coach even though they wanted to do things differently... but appropriate defensive changes weren't made until the last 3 minutes of the game, when it was too late.  Disappointing, but they are a super strong team and deserved the win!

Parker- 6th grade basketball

Parker just wrapped up his 6th grade basketball season!  6th grade boys is a little different.  The "school" teams (that only plays during the week) are only 7th and 8th graders, so 6th grade boys can't make the team. (6th grade girls, can, but not boys).  However, there is the "feeder" team for each grade (6th, 7th, and 8th) that play on the weekends.  This is the team Parker made.  There were enough boys to make two teams- an A and a B- and Parker was able to make the A team, so we were really proud of him!

I attempted to play photographer- it's tough shooting in (usually) poor indoor lighting with a lot of action- but I had a blast trying.  Here are some pics from Parker's 6th grade season!

Uncle Peter spent a whole day with us, going back and forth between Parker and Taylor's games at different schools... 4 total!
