The month of January

So... I haven't been a good blogger this month.  Good thing I only have, like, two readers, or else people would be left in suspense.  ;)

I figured I'd sum up the month of January in one lump blog- at least, a lump since my last post.  It was a good month.  A little hectic with work; a lot of cold outside; frequent stir-craziness; a lot of extracurricular activities; a few sicknesses.  Quite the spectrum, I know.  Here's us, lately!

Sydney started having homework this month!  I have to brag on my smart little girl.  She qualified for gifted earlier in the school year, and is reading on a 2.3-3.2 grade level for her AR books!  

Poor Taylor had the flu.  Miraculously, she was the only one that got it! (Knock. On. Wood.)

Stephen and I went on a little mini-vacay to Savannah!  This is at brunch.

Thanks to all of Stephen's travels, they upgraded us to a riverfront view on the top floor.  Didn't know riverfront view meant one-wrong-step-and-you're-actually-in-the-river.

Meanwhile, at home, sweet Grandmom, DeeDad, Aunt Kendall, Uncle Matthew, and cousins Madeline and Kerrigan stayed with the three K-Bash kiddos!  These were some of the fun texts I got.

 

The boo-boo that won't go away

Oh, boys.  What are you going to do with them?  They get dirty, they love trucks, they are loud... and they always seem to get hurt, but usually are able to brush it off... you know, don't let anyone see the scars.

Except for Parker.

He got a cut on his forehead back in October at daycare.  I don't even recall what happened... it wasn't anything crazy.  But, that boy... he started picking at his scratch, turning it into a scab.  He continued to pick... and pick.. and pick.  So much so that the picking turned into his "comfort" habit before he went to sleep.  He would suck his right thumb and pick at his scab with his left hand.

Halloween... soon after the boo-boo first appeared.

At first, I put a band-aid on it, only to learn a few hours later that his skin doesn't like latex.  Poor boy not only had the scab but had a band-aid-shaped rash on his forehead, too.  We tried latex-free band-aids, but those suckers don't stick well and he'd take them off in all of 3 seconds.

I tried putting neosporin and (latex-free) band-aids on in his sleep, but that silly boy would pick those off in his sleep!

We cut his nails every 2 days.

I'd load up his scab with Aquaphor, hoping he wouldn't want to pick at his scab because it was slimy.  Didn't work.

We even got to a point where the scab was actually gone and flat and almost skin-colored... but he'd somehow pick hard enough to bring the scab back!  arrrgh!

Now, we're going on 3+ months with that bad boy STILL THERE.  It won't go away!

So, after some internet research, here is our new (hopefully, possible, PLEASE) solution.

I'll keep you posted... fingers crossed this treatment will keep my picky boy's picking at bay!

Stephen got back the picture that was taken at "Cookies with Santa" at his work.  This is the one picture we got this year with Old Saint Nick, and despite the fact that Santa was apparently asleep and the kids were terrified, it came out okay. :)  Have to document these fun times!!

We spent the first day of 2015 at Six Flags!  Their "Holiday in the Park" set-up was new this year and the park was open through the new year.  It was a lot of fun!  A little chilly, but fun.
