August Wrap Up

The month of August was a busy one!  From the start of school to PTA events to soccer starting up to the big move (more on that later!), it flew at times and drug at times.  Glad to be done with the craziness of August and settled, into the routine of school, moved into the house, out of the apartment (👏), into soccer, etc.

First Day of School!

The first day of school is here, and we have a 4th grader, a 2nd grader, and a Kindergartner!  The kiddos seem to have fantastic teachers this year.  Open House was Monday, and I had to work at the PTA table the whole day, but thankfully Stephen could bring the kids to meet their teachers.  They seem friendly and energetic and organized... and it made the kids that much more excited!  (I just don't have photographic proof...)

Sydney has several friends she made from last year in her class, so she's stoked.  Taylor's little best buddy from her 1st grade class isn't in her class, but her twin sister is, so that made it a little more bearable.  Parker is starting totally fresh, but I got to meet a couple of boys in his class while at the PTA table, and they seemed like good kids.  

I'm thankful that the kids are going to get a full year in, from start to finish, and not have to move mid-year again!  (Well... move school districts, that is)

Parker's teacher sent home a really cute thing... it was a piece of paper that said "Do not open until the night before Kindergarten".  There was a poem inside and a little bag of confetti.  The poem said to put the confetti under your pillow and it'll help you sleep and get ready for KG in the morning.  

The first day of school was a yucky, rainy day, but we managed to get up with our 5:30 alarms, get ready, snap some photos, and get to school!

There were no tears in the morning, and they got off the bus with big smiles, so I'd say day 1 was a success!

The rest of summer

Believe it or not, summer is officially OVER!  We had a really and truly fantastic summer.  We kept busy but really didn't do many major things.  Surprisingly, we never made it to the library or the movies, two things I thought we'd do regularly.  I feel like our summer was a great mix of being together as a family, doing things independently, spending time at the pool, playing outside, seeing friends, and doing little activities for fun.  There was plenty of whining and complaining... DAILY... but I'm going to miss the lazy summer days of hanging out with the kiddos.

The biggest accomplishment of the summer- Parker is finally swimming!  It's amazing how much your swimming skills can improve when you have regular access to a pool and not just taking random swim lessons. Yay!

Ahhh!  Such a fun summer!!  Now we're back to early alarms being set, homework to do, structure and routine.  I'll be good with it in a few weeks, once my body gets used to waking up before 8:30. ;) I guess I should probably go to bed...
