Memorial Day Weekend

We ventured outside of the house!  Who are we? Ha!  Just kidding.  We haven't been "sheltering in place" that well in the last few weeks, but we haven't left town yet.  For Memorial Day weekend, the girls and I made our way up to the mountain house!

We left at probably the worst time ever... it started storming like crazy.  Check out a screenshot of the weather map:

Yeah... so our 2 hour, 45 minute drive ended up being almost 4 hours (with one stop included).  But, we made it safely, thank goodness!

We had some good hang-out time, card games, a golf cart parade and "social distancing" picnic (in lieu of the normal picnic and square-dance), hanging out with friends, and more.

Sunday AM walk:

We went to a friend's house who lives up a looooong driveway, but when you get to the top... holy cow! What a view!

Meanwhile, Stephen and Parker had a "boys' weekend", including ordering pizza, golf, movies, fro yo, and more!

Sydney- 5th Grade

We took some pictures of Sydney at her school, just to have memories of her last year there.  It stinks that her 5th grade year was cut short, but, on the flip side, it definitely will be a year she won't forget!

We utilized the dress and shoes we bought for her Jr. Beta induction (which she had to miss due to the stomach bug) and her awards' day (had to miss because of good ol' Covid).  This girl doesn't wear dresses ever (!) but it was nice to be able to put the dress to use.

5th Grade "Fly By"

Since the 5th graders didn't get to do their normal "send off" activities this year, their school planned a "fly by" parade.  We all met at our church down the road, lined up by homeroom class, and caravanned over to the school.  People decked their cars out; kids were hanging out of the sun roofs; we had a police escort; people were pulling over thinking we were a funeral (?! Some interesting funeral!).

Leaving the church... There were well over 130 cars!

We got to the school, and all the teachers and administrators (even the head janitor!) were there!

This was a sweet and special memory for Sydney to end elementary school on.  It's definitely something she won't forget!
