 I think this is the last of the basement posts... whew!  This is the progress of the hallway and the storage areas.

Basement- Workshop

Stephen has really gotten into building/woodworking/etc. during the quarantine.  More on that sometime later!  We left a portion of the basement to be his workshop so he'd have a good space to keep all of his tools.

Basement- Bedroom

Onto the bedroom!  We knew the bedroom had to be around where it is, since it had to include the windows.  Plus, it was right near the bathroom, and we knew we wanted the bedroom and bathroom close to each other.  The bedroom was pretty non-dramatic, except for getting the wrong bed size delivered to us (and not realizing for several months when we put it together and the mattress was too big).  Finally, the bed is together and the mattress fits, and it's basically done!

Fall Break

We had fall break a couple of weeks ago.  At that point, we had successfully completed 7 weeks of in-person school- hip hip hooray!!  The COVID numbers have been relatively low, and our county has a plan in place as to what to do if the numbers got out of control.   So far, so good!  I feel like 7 weeks of in-person school during this time is a win already, even if we have to switch to digital learning in the near future.

I digress.  The point of this blog was to talk about fall break. :) We decided to go to Destin for a few nights!  We didn't go anywhere this summer besides the mountain house, and I was itching to be somewhere else... to see new scenery.  Taylor had basketball games on the two weekends of fall break, so we went to the beach from Monday-Thursday.  

We drove down on Monday.  We stopped for lunch in Montgomery, AL, then finished the 6 hour drive to Destin.  We went to the Destin Harborwalk before checking into our condo. We hung out there and did some activities.  

We checked into the condo around 4 PM, unpacked the car, and got settled.

We were on the 20th floor. 😲

We went out to dinner that night, and called it a day!

The next morning, we ventured out to the beach in the morning.  It was COLD!  And windy!  The kids sucked it up for a couple of hours.  Luckily, the water itself was warm, but when you got out of the water, you would freeze. 

We also went to the pool for a bit, but it was just too chilly to enjoy.

That afternoon, we went to Sandestin to Baytowne Wharf, a cute little area with restaurants and activities.

We went out to eat at a restaurant on the beach that night.

The next morning was Sydney's birthday!  We let her decide what we did that day.  Luckily, the weather cooperated for her big day, so the first thing she wanted to do was go to the beach.

Then, we went to an outdoor shopping mall!  We ate lunch at a Mexican restaurant, and then Sydney got her ears pierced!

She bought some decorations for her new crocs.

That night, Sydney wanted to do Door Dash and order dinner in, so we did that and watched movies and hung out.  We headed back home early the next morning.  It was a nice little getaway!
