Parker- Flag Football

Parker played his first season of flag football this spring, and he LOVED it!  I'm that kind of mom that is reeeeeallly hoping he wouldn't ever want to play real football, but I'm okay with flag football.  Maybe he'll get any football fix out of the way with this sport instead of the real thing. ;)

Here are some pics and videos!

Stephen was the assistant coach

They got an honorary jersey for a sweet local boy with terminal cancer. :(

Abe and Parker's favorite basketball coach came to watch them!

It was a super fun season!

Dad's Service

We had a delayed memorial service for my dad in June.  With Covid going on, we didn't feel comfortable hosting a large gathering before now.  The mountain house was a perfect place to have it... lots of friends, an open-air chapel, and warmer weather.  A great crowd showed up, the grandkids all got to talk, and we had a gathering at my sister's cabin afterwards!  It was just perfect, and my dad would never have expected so much love.  He was a very loved man.

Here are some pics and videos from the day, but first...

This was really cool.  I haven't seen a single rainbow since my dad passed away.  I always hear of people seeing rainbows and feeling peace from it after a loved one dies, but I haven't seen any.  As we were driving up to the mountains, there was a rainbow that started off really faint...

And it kept getting darker and more defined the more we drove.  I noticed something crazy- I have never seen the "end" of a rainbow.  I always see rainbows in the distance, with "ends" being something I can't see.

With this one... I could see the end!  I debated looking for the pot of gold (hehe), but was completely blown away when I noticed that the end of the rainbow was exactly at the spot where we turn left off this highway to go down to our house.  This highway, we are on for 70 miles, and the place we are to turn off, the end of the rainbow is there.  How incredible is that??  Gave me some peace for sure.

This got me!

Sydney and Olivia

My dad started this library years ago... kind of a give and take system.  They honored him with this plaque last summer!

My kids' memories:

Taylor is just like me and couldn't get through it!

Party afterwards:

His favorite snack!

I wish I had more pictures of people, but it was a great time of seeing people, catching up, and talking about memories.  It's been 10 months, but still seems surreal that he is gone.  Seeing all the love and people who cared for him definitely keeps his memory alive!

Last Days of School

Wow, I can't believe we made it through this year... I honestly thought that we would go for a few weeks and then shut down and have to go digital.  It wasn't perfect, but I feel like decision-makers in our county made decisions that appealed to as many people as possible.  Kids could choose to learn digitally, from home, or go in person.  School started on August 3rd and continued straight, except for 2 weeks of digital learning after Christmas holidays (for precaution).

My kids didn't hesitate- they wanted to go in person.  They need that socialization and don't learn as well in front of a computer.  Overall, the kids had a really great year.  Taylor had to quarantine twice, for a week each time, due to sitting within 6 feet of someone who had Covid.  Sydney had to quarantine once for one week due to exposure. (This surprised me- I thought she'd have to quarantine a lot more being at middle school!)  Parker never had to quarantine!  I would call all of this a huge success, considering what all was going on in the world.

Here are some pics from the last days of school for the kiddos!

Field Day

I enjoyed subbing at Sydney's school for the last 3 months of the year!  I got to know her friends and her teachers, something I wasn't able to do before.
