Cross country season has begun! This year, Taylor has joined Sydney in running. She wasn't going to, but the xc coach kept reaching out about her running. We figured it would be a great way for her to stay conditioned for basketball.
One month in, Taylor has only been able to run in one race (basketball commitments) and Sydney has only run in two (her hip has been bothering her again). But, they are giving it their all and enjoying the season!

Sydney celebrated her birthday this year at the beach with friends... I don't think she'd want to spend it any other way! Here are some pics from her trip, along with pics from her friend's sweet mom who made the day extra special for her.
The rest of her week was an absolute blast down at 30A. Here are pics she sent me (orrrrr.... ones I stole from her Instagram ;)

Sydney and Taylor's high school homecoming dance was in September! They both were asked to go with dates this year, so the prom (hoco?)-posals commenced. Sydney was asked by a senior named Ryan, and Taylor was asked by a freshman named Grant. Both are sweet, smart, athletic boys, and they were very thoughtful with everything along the way.
Ryan- funny enough, his family was one of our first friends we made when we moved here. Taylor joined a soccer team back in 2nd grade, and Ryan's dad was the coach, and Ryan's little sister, Abby, and Taylor became the best of friends. We would hang out all the time! I don't think he and Sydney ever talked much back then- ha! Fast forward to 7 years later, he asked Sydney to dinner and took her out to a cute restaurant in downtown Woodstock. When they got back, he pulled the sign he made out of his trunk and asked her to homecoming. They both run cross country, hence the theme.
Grant, who came to our school from a private school in 7th grade, had one of the best reputations at the middle school. The kids loved him, the teachers loved him... and I secretly think he and Taylor have liked each other since 7th grade, but that might just be me. ;) His little sister is in 7th grade and she and Taylor got to know each other through FCA last year. One day at youth group, his sister asked if Taylor would walk her to her mom's car. As they were walking, Grant jumped out from behind a bush with his sign. ;) His was a basketball theme- which was fitting, since they both play.
On to homecoming night, the girls and their friends met up to take pictures. Taylor and her group went out to dinner in downtown Alpharetta, and we went with a few of the parents. Sydney's group went to the dance a little later and then went to Taco Mac afterwards. They went back to her friend Hannah's house to hang out, and then Sydney spent the night there. Taylor and her friends went back to Grant's house to swim, and then she spent the night at Skye's house. They all seemed to have an absolute blast!
