Basketball- Taylor

Now, onto Taylor's basketball season!  Taylor had only played one season previously, in 1st grade in our old town.  Her team last year was really not good- it was made up of 1st-3rd graders, and they didn't win a single game.  Taylor's skills were super new and basic- she basically knew how to run down the court and stand in her position.  She did have the height, though. ;)

This season, Taylor's team was mostly a brand new team.. they were the only 2nd grade team, and I think maybe 2 girls played in first grade?  They also didn't have a head coach until about a week before the season began (one of the moms who is a "professional coach" stepped up.  She was amazing!)

Overall, record-wise, the girls had a tough season.  I think they ended up being 4-6 and they didn't make the playoffs.  BUT, again, they grew tremendously!  Their first game, they played a team and lost 11-2 (but the two points were made at the buzzer by a girl randomly throwing the ball up!).  They played that same team the last game of the season and won 13-11!  Their dribbling skills, shooting skills, and aggressiveness were so much fun to watch grow throughout the 3 month season.

After their first game...

...which was also on Taylor's birthday!

Her friend Abby came to cheer here on one game!

After their last game!

Taylor was the leading scorer and rebounder, she always started and performed the jump ball, and her dribbling skills amazed me from where she was back in November!  Instead of rebounding the ball and panicking, trying to pass the ball off to someone else, she now confidently dribbles down the court to try to score.

This was a video from another parent's Facebook Live. This was right after the jump ball!

I still don't know how this wasn't a foul. 😂

This little team had so much heart and grew together so well.  I hope they can stay together again next season!

Taylor's coaches got each girl a personalized frame with words that describe them.  This is Taylor's!
