Sydney and I took three days during our Thanksgiving break and drove up to North Carolina to look at 9 different colleges! We had a great time, catching up, listening to music, and seeing some cool campuses. It was good for her, as she was able to tell things she really wants in a college and things she doesn't.
Here is where all we went!
Sunday:
We met up with my niece Madeline in Charlotte Sunday night and got to see her place and walk to a cute area with restaurants and bars.

Takeaways:
-Both of us loved UNC Charlotte. Such a surprise! It's a great size, has all the sports and activities. The campus is one where you can walk everywhere, it's kind of contained- but right outside is the big city of Charlotte, which you can hardly tell. The campus was nicer and newer and had all the amenities and more.
-UNC Chapel Hill and NC State were surprisingly our bottom two. NC State looked like a bunch of industrial buildings, and it kind of blended into the city around it instead of feeling separate. UNC Chapel Hill... it has a huge hospital right smack in the middle of campus. Like, take your nearest big hospital and plop it in the middle of UGA. So strange! I think it would be weird to hear sirens every day while walking to class. And, there were so many busy driving roads that students would have to cross to get places on campus. They had to have crossing guards for kids to cross when not at intersections. It seemed very chaotic and we were both surprised.
We also didn't like UNC Greensboro. Clemson was a "kind of" like by Sydney. Oh, and Anderson was just because a friend of hers is going there next year... that's a no from her. ;)
-Wake and Elon were beautiful campuses, but... Duke took the cake. It is straight out of a fairytale! Of course, with it's 6.8% acceptance rate and the fact that it's close to $100k a year... let's just say it was a fun visit. ;)
