Treasure Hunt

We did something fun today that the girls loved- a treasure hunt!  Sydney's BFF, Raegan, came over to play, and I made up a quick treasure hunt.  I made about 12 clues on a 4 year-old (with a 2 year-old assistant) level.  Their excitement was contagious!  Ultimately, the treasure was hidden in the guest shower, and they had to figure out the somewhat vague clue to be able to find it.  After several trips around the house (and some clues), they found it!

Well, darn!

I found out some bummy news this afternoon!  I knew I had to go back to work for "new teacher orientation" next Thursday and Friday (25th and 26th).  But, I just found out that I actually have to go to a 3 day training next MONDAY, TUESDAY, and WEDNESDAY (22nd-24th), too.  So we are talking T-minus 6 days left of summer for me.  It also means having to cancel our little vacay we had scheduled for this Saturday to next Tuesday.  Big bummer!

Guess I better get my act together... no more 3 hour naps like I took today!

Summer- Week 7!

7 weeks down, only 2 to go! 

Monday, I had all 3 kiddos at home with me.  The morning was spent wearing bathing suits around the house while playing with play dough, coloring, etc.  (We were supposed to have swimming lessons but the pool was full of debris from the lovely weekend weather, so they had to be cancelled).  Our babysitter came over around lunchtime, and I went to the gym and a couple of stores.  I cooked a dinner that Sydney called "awesome" (this never happens, people!) and we enjoyed a rainy evening in.

Tuesday, I took the girls to daycare and kept Parker.  We went to lunch with my friend, Amber, and had a great catch-up time.  Amber is my uber-technological friend who was picked as one of the first few thousand people in the world to get Google Glass.  I got to try it out, it is crazily cool and high-tech.  I can't imagine what technology will be like in the next 20 years, because this is the here-and-now and this device is CRAZY.

Wednesday, swim lessons were on!  Hip hip hooray!  I took P to daycare today, the girls and I played at the park, and then we went to swimming lessons.  Afterwards, the girls went to Raegan's house to play, and I ran a few errands.  The girls had a blast!  That evening, we had dinner and bible study at church.  A fun day!

Thursday, Stephen took a vacation day.  We took Parker to daycare and then went to the zoo!  We also went to the mall after the zoo to get some lunch and walk around some.  I guess, since we live 25+ minutes away from any close mall, I really haven't taken the girls to malls much.  Taylor was pretty mesmerized by it all!  The girls and Stephen rode the train and played on the little playground in the mall while I did some window shopping.  Taylor konked out on the way home, she was so exhausted.

 Friday, I took the girls to daycare and kept Parker with me.  Sydney got to go on a field trip with her class to Chick-fil-a- they made cow t-shirts and got free Chick-fil-a today!  I actually got my hair done (this was very MUCH needed- my roots (and dead ends) were way too long!) and Stephen kept Parker while I did that.  Stephen did the lawn tonight (finally, a small break in the rain) and I cooked dinner and the girls and I watched a movie.  A very low-key day!

Saturday, I ran some errands in the morning, and Stephen pressure-washed our driveway all afternoon.  (Holy cow, you don't realize how badly something needs something until you do it.  Our driveway was disgusting!)  It took Stephen almost 4 hours, and he only got about halfway done.  The kids played outside, we met the neighbors' new puppy, and I worked on my curtain project (more on that later).  We went on a date night that night, going to dinner and then a play in Old Towne Conyers.  It was a great night!

The Zoo!

Stephen took a vacation day today, and we decided to head to the zoo!  We went first thing in the AM, since the rain seems to hit worse in the afternoon.  The girls were very excited- this was Taylor's first visit to a zoo!

We get off to a good start, even though the first main exhibit (elephants) was under construction.  No elephants were to be seen. :(  But, we did get to see flamingos, giraffes, kangaroos, gorillas, orangutans, warthogs, pandas, lions, tigers, bears, (oh my!), all kinds of snakes/reptiles, rhinos, and more.  It started to rain about an hour in, but there's a lot of overhead tree cover, so we didn't get too wet.  The rain lasted about 15 minutes and then stopped.

For me, I think the gorillas were the most fascinating.  A baby gorilla had been born in March, and you could see the mom taking care of the baby.  There were also two little "toddlers" running around.  It reminded me of our family.  Ha! 

The girls were done after about 2 hours, so we made our way on out before any extreme meltdowns occurred.  It was a pretty good time!

On a funny note- I asked Taylor later on what her favorite animal was that she saw at the zoo.  Her response?  "The elephants."  Oh, Taylor...  :)

Parker had his 9 month well check-up yesterday.  Here are his stats:

Height: 29 1/4" (75th%)
Weight: 22 lbs, 9 oz (75th%)
Head Circumference: 47 cm (95th%)
