February Break

The kiddos had a whole week off of school in February.  And, what do you know... Stephen was gone Monday morning until Thursday night!  I'm sensing a common theme with Stephen's travel schedule and the kids' vacation schedule... hmmmm... ;)

We didn't go out of town anywhere, but I tried to keep the kids entertained!  Because, let's face it- lingering around the house too long gets them on each others' last nerves.  (heck, mine, too!) (But I sure do love them.)

Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day has come and gone!  Stephen and I don't do much to celebrate Valentine's Day- just cards- but we try to make it fun for the kids.  Each of the kids had Valentine's parties in their own classes, on 3 different days.  I only made it to Taylor's party, and forgot my phone, so I don't have any pictures from it.  The girls made boxes to take, they got loooooots of candy and cards.  

We got the kiddos some presents- we celebrated the night before Valentine's Day since Stephen would be traveling.

Kennesaw Mountain

We took a little family outing up to Marietta to hike at Kennesaw Mountain a couple of weekends ago.  It was COOOOLD.  But thankfully, the hike itself wasn't too bad- definitely do-able for my kids.

Jag Jam

The girls' school- ALSO on Friday- had their Valentine's dance, the Jag Jam.  I worked the concession stand the whole time, so I didn't get to see all the fun that was going on in the cafeteria.  But, according to Sydney, all her girl friends just wanted to be with boys... so she didn't have much fun.  Is it sad that I was happy for her??  Taylor had a good time, probably running around with her buddies.  It was a 50s theme- many kids were dressed up.

Fun Run

The girls' school did a fundraiser where they had to run laps and get pledges for each lap they ran.  This was a quick fundraiser, as the girls only had a week to get as many pledges as they could.  Of course, they are enticed by everything... toys! popcorn party! pajama day!  extra recess! Well, that motivation worked.  My girls were wanting to get pledges!  (thank you to our sweet friends and family for being so generous to help them out)

So, Friday- after the field trip- the fun run occurred!  Sydney's was that morning, so I missed it... but she apparently ran 48 laps in the 20 minutes.  (they were rather short laps, don't worry)  Taylor did awesome, too, and I got to watch her run!  The lights were out, they had glow sticks on them, and some pumping music was playing.

It was definitely a fun fundraiser.  The school raised over $40,000 in a week!

Taylor's Field Trip

Last Friday, Taylor and all the other kindergartners headed over to the Aurora Theatre in Lawrenceville to watch The Three Billy Goats Gruff in play-form.  I got to attend but got to ride with my friend Kelly in her car rather than ride the bus... score one for us.  We arrived, were ushered into the theatre (we were the last class in, so we got balcony seats) and enjoyed the show!  It wasn't too long- maybe 45 minutes?- so the kids' attention spans were still attentive.

After the play, we walked to the lawn by the courthouse and had a picnic lunch.  Luckily, the weather and temperature were just perfect for a picnic.  We ate, the kids played, and then they hopped back on the bus and went back to school!
