Latest Doings

I feel like I haven't had many fun blog updates lately!  Thought I'd fill you in on what's been happening here.

Sydney:

Sydney has been a wave of emotions lately.  She can be the sweetest, cutest little thing, and then she can be a disrespectful, defiant little girl.  You never know what you're going to get.  It's very frustrating, as her bad moods seem to hit at very inopportune times.  I'm hoping this is just a phase.

She has started to read, which is amazing me.  We practice every night, and she learns so much during the day at school.  When did she grow up so much??

She had strep throat last week, so she spent 3 days out of school with me.  We had some nice bonding times.  Thanksfully, she's all better.

I attempted to straighten Sydney's hair one night... check it out!

...she woke up with it curly again.  But look how pretty it still looks!

I love this picture.

Doing her make-up school work.

Birthday Parties:

I never realized how many December babies there are!  I feel like Sydney's been invited to so many birthday parties lately.  Here are a couple of recent ones:

Dance party at a dance studio... getting glitterfied.

Sydney the ballerina?  Not so sure...

Sydney and her friend Maddie.

Parker:

Parker is 11 weeks today... can you believe it??  He has had a rough week or so.  Last Saturday night, he was up, screaming, from 8:30 PM to 4:00 AM.  That was something completely atypical.  Parker rarely ever cries.  I took him to urgent care Sunday AM, and it turns out he has an ear infection and bronchiolitis.  Uggh. He's on an antibiotic and breathing treatments.

He started sleeping in his crib last week.

Sweet boy!

All about me:

Well, I've had an exciting week or so.  I am now braces-less (yay!) and employed again (...yay?...).  I went back to work on Monday, and it's actually nice to get back into the swing of things.  However, it's crazy how quickly stress sets in.  I miss the days of wearing sweats and watching DVR'd Ellens while holding my sweet baby.  But, it's been great to see everyone and I'm glad I came back a little before the break to get caught up on things.  Plus, Parker has been in the wonderful care of my Mom and Stephen, of which I am SO appreciative.

Braces are off (finally!) and I now have a retainer to wear.  It's funny, because Taylor really hasn't known me without braces (she was 5 months old when I got them on), so she was a little confused at first.

Training was going pretty well- I ran my first 5K last weekend!  It was hard, but fun.  A few of my neighbors and I ran it together.  However, what I was afraid would happen has happened... I ran my first day back to work, but haven't done anything since.  I'm just so exhausted, but I need to figure out a plan to make running a priority.  Hopefully it's just getting back into things that's making me so tired and it'll get better.

A Sydney-taken picture of my no-braces.

I got to run with this sky surrounding me.  Beautiful!

My Christmas present... before (kind of- there used to be a wire shelf going across the wall)

And after!  Yay!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

Yes, the Christmas countdown is in full swing.  I really can't believe there is less than 2 weeks until the big day!

Though I'm more a warmer-weather fan, I do think that the Christmas season is my most favorite time of the year.  I've been playing almost nothing but Christmas music in the car.  We've been going to Christmas parties and have been doing some fun Christmas-y activities, like hiding Mr. Elf each night and doing our advent calendar.  And, of course, my very favorite Christmas tradition... getting Christmas cards!!  Love it.

So, here are some Christmas happenings going on in our household:

Stephen's work always has a party with fun crafts and, of course, a visit from Santa.

Sydney and Taylor's school had their Christmas program this past Tuesday.  It was precious!

Sydney got to be an angel!

Taylor's 1 year old class.  Can you spot Taylor?  (hint- she's kind of tall)

Sydney's pre-K class.  (Can you find Sydney?  Hint- she's kind of short!)

Her halo kept falling in front of her face, and her arms were wrapped up in her robe, leaving her unable to fix it.  HILARIOUS.  I was seriously doing one of those belly-laughs during the performance.

The whole school crew, 2 yrs-Kindergarten.

Getting ready for Santa pictures at school.  Not such a hit.

My sleeping Handsome.

Advent calendars.

Thanksgiving

Happy way-belated-Turkey-Day-blog-post to everybody!

We had a good holiday.  We ate lunch with my parents on Thanksgiving Day (my siblings always celebrate with their in-laws) and then we made the trek 5 hours south to Waycross.  Yes, we looked like we were going on a month-long cross-county trip.

You should've seen the inside of the car!

We had a great time seeing all of Stephen's family!  We got to meet the latest addition to his family- Miss Addie Grace, daughter to Stephen's cousin, Randy, and his wife, Ashley.  She is precious, and is exactly one week younger than Parker.  I think they will be the best of friends.

The weather was amazing down there- even to the point of being hot!  I did not pack myself nor the kiddos very well- I either packed way too much, or not enough, or not a good variety for the wild weather.

We hung out, went shopping, watched football, played outside, and enjoyed a great holiday.

Their yard actually had leaves... something ours lacks!

The motley crew.

2 month stats!

Parker had his 2 month check up today!  The stats are in... drumroll, please...

Weight: 14 lbs, 1.5 oz (90-95%)
Height: 24" (85%)
Head Circumference: 42 cm (>98%)

Believe it or not, he has topped Taylor!

(Taylor's 2 month stats)
Weight: 13 pounds, 8 ounces (95%)
Height: 23-1/4" (75-90%)
Head circumference: 40 cm (75-90%)

**Now, I don't understand why his % for weight is lower than Taylor's, but maybe, by week, Parker was a little older at his 2 month appointment?

(Sydney's 2 month stats)
Weight: 11 pounds, 1 oz.
Height: 22"
Head circumference: (Didn't write this in her babybook.  Why, oh why, didn't I blog way back then??)

So, looks like he's on track to be a big boy!  It's funny, he's definitely "chunking out"... his face is getting fuller, his little thighs have a roll in them now.

They upped his Zantac dosage, since he's been spitting up a lot more. Besides that, the doctor said he looks extremely healthy! (Too bad his biggest sister has strep throat... middle sister is going to ENT tomorrow and will be tested, too.) Guess you can't win them all!
