Poor baby :(

Poor Parker... not only have I never seen him this sick, I don't think I've seen any of my kids this sick!  We are on day 7 and he hasn't improved much.  I'm worried about dehydration at this point, because he's not drinking much and hasn't had any wet diapers or tears in the last 6 hours.  Nurse line gave me some advice to try before taking him to the ER.  He just sacked out after taking some medicine, so here's hoping he will get better soon.  Here are some pathetic pictures of my sweet boy!

 

 

Hand, Foot, and Mouth- oh my!

Poor Parker is sick.  It started last week with a cough.  It continued the last couple of days with slight diarrhea and just an overall sense that he didn't feel well (crying out in the middle of the night, out-of-control drooling, crankiness, not eating well).  I took him to daycare this morning, knowing he didn't feel well (hello, mommy guilt!).  I told his teacher to call me if they needed me to get him.  They called 20 minutes after I got to work- his fever went from 99 (when I took him) to 101.5 that quickly. :(  So, I got my stuff together and plans ready for a sub, and I headed home to spend the day with my little man!

I took him to the doctor, and he has a virus that is similar to hand, foot, mouth disease.  The doctor said that he has blisters all over his throat.  Poor little guy!  Since it's a virus, there's no antibiotic to take, so I'm supposed to give him motrin and a maalox/benadryl concoction to ease the throat pain.

He was really sleepy today and just had that pathetic, "I don't feel well" look to him.  We hung out, he slept a good bit, I took a nap, we got medicine at Publix, got the car washed, went for a walk, and got the girls from school.  My mom came down tonight and will be keeping Parker all day tomorrow.  (what do you know- this happened while Stephen was in Cali!  It never fails!)

Busy month

Whew, this is going to be a busy month for us in the K-Bash household.  Stephen and I sat down tonight to go through our calendar, just to get things straight.  We've already double-booked a couple of things, so we had to get our stuff together.

This month includes:

• 9 family birthdays
• 2 family birthday parties
• 5 friend's birthday parties, 2 of which we can't make because of another commitment, and two that are at the same time that we will have so split up going to.
• Dinner/comedy show for me w/ friends
• Church women's group event
• Neighborhood Bunco
• Volunteering at 2 school softball games
• Falcons' game for Stephen
• Early morning and afternoon duty at school for a whole week
• Curriculum night one evening at school
• Stephen traveling several times
• Stephen going to a couple GT games
• Church potluck dinner
• Parent conferences at school
• 2 5K races
• An art festival
• Brother/Sis-in-law/niece coming in town
• High school football game

Whew!  Lots and lots going on.  But, thankfully it is all fun things.  I'm really looking forward to the fall and all the great events that come along with it.  Bring it!

Sydney's haircut

So... Sydney's hair is LONG.  It's so curly that you don't realize how long it really is until it's wet.  A few more inches, and this girl could sit on her hair in the shower!  As pretty as it is long, I thought it might be good to go ahead and get it cut. 

I took her to a haircut place last weekend, and put it in the hands of the hairdresser.  I was originally thinking cutting off about 6 inches, or to the shoulders.  The hairdresser was worried that it may spring up too much, and suggested 4 inches with some layers.  I told her to roll with it.  It's not so drastic of a change, but it's much easier to brush after the shower, and it's awfully shiny all of a sudden.  And, her curls are still there!  (Part of me was afraid they would go away!)

11 Months!

Parker is 11 months old!!  What?!

His accomplishments this month include:

• Climbing up the stairs.
• Three more top teeth have popped through.. and two more are coming in both on top and bottom.  I'm going to miss his gummy smile!
• Being moved up to the next class at daycare.
• Walking a lot around furniture, while holding on.
• Clapping.
• I'm packing up all the 12 month clothes!
• Did I mention before that it was hard to change his diaper/put his clothes on?  It's virtually impossible now!
• He loves to open/close drawers and doors.
• He LOVES the dishwasher.  If we have it open, he speed-crawls over to it and plays with it.
• He also loves the refrigerator.  More speed-crawling occurs when he hears it open.
• I heard him say "mama" once, and he does say "dada".  He said "uh!" once, in terms of "uh oh!".

Whoops and Okra

Random title, huh?  I was tiredly updating my blog's look last night and I somehow reposted that Parker is 7 months old.  Don't worry, he is not regressing in age.  I just can't delete it, otherwise it'll be gone!

Oh, and remember how I said we weren't having luck with our okra plant?  I lied.  We all of a sudden have a ton of okra growing.  Woohoo!
