Summer Vacay, Day 5

Today's weather was crazy.  Dreary, rainy, and a high of about 55 degrees!  I checked the weather the Saturday before we left and it said sunny and a high of 85 degrees for this day in Portland.  Let's just say that we did a lot of re-wearing of jeans and jackets this week.

We nixed most of our outdoor plans and opted for indoor ones.  Our first stop was a place called Playdate PDX- a big indoor playground.  We unknowingly hit it up on half-price day, so the kiddos played for a couple of hours for $10 total.  Score! There were tables, leather chairs, free wifi and a cafe where you could even order beer for the parents.  If we lived here, I think we'd hit this place up often.

After that, we headed to a nearby mall called Lloyd Center Mall.  This mall was tucked away downtown, and looked pretty small from the outside- but it kept going and going.  We walked around the mall, did some tax-free shopping and ate lunch.

We headed back towards our hotel, but first made a stop at the famous Voodoo Doughnuts.  Most people, when we said we were going to Portland, told us we had to go here.  We drove up to it around 2 PM on this Thursday, and there was a crazy line going down the sidewalk to it.  We dropped Stephen off and he ordered for us.  We went to a nearby park to eat them.  They were definitely delicious!

We went back to the hotel to park the car, and then we hit up the downtown area again.  First stop was Starbucks, to get the kids some drinks.

Next stop was a fun toy store called Finnegans.

Then, we walked to a big bookstore called Powell's.  The kids all chimed in with "booooooring!" as we walked there, but ended up loving it.  Plus, they each walked away with a book!

We stayed in that night, eating dinner at the concierge lounge and getting to bed at a normal hour.
